Catalina Betancur Velez ’23
My experience with the Latin American and Latina/o Studies minor has been an outlet for me to further connect with my identity through me scholarship. The courses and experiences that I have been a part of as requisites for the minor have empowered me to learn more about the history and cultures of Latin America. It has also directly fallen in line with the concentrations of my Global Studies and Political Science double majors. The versatility of the minor has allowed me to pursue my interests in Alton American Politics and Immigration and has empowered me to pursue a career in immigration law. I am so grateful for the opportunity to finish this minor and feel ready to further engage my identity with the world around me!
