While studying at PC, my goal was always to study what genuinely captivated my attention instead of what was expected. Growing up, Latin American history was always a subject that interested me, especially since it is a subject that goes vastly unacknowledged in our education system.
Choosing to minor in LALS allowed me to pursue this interest through a series of diverse and engaging courses. These courses allowed me to critically discuss and research topics such as the Latin American diaspora experience in the U.S. and the continuous effects of colonization in Latin America. Through this minor, I was able to value the importance of accurately and truthfully retelling history in order to understand and address the faults of the society we live in.
