2022 Las Casas Conference

Bartolomé de Las Casas into the 21st Century: Perspectives and Provocations

(An Online Event: June 22-24, 2022)

In place of our postponed in-person conference (rescheduled for June 2023), Lascasian studies at Providence College will host a fast-paced online event. In seven hours over three days, attendees of this gathering will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain and expand the academic network of Las Casas scholars
  • Learn from top researchers in the field
  • Discover new resources and methods
  • Develop research ideas in conversation with colleagues
  • Help shape the future of Lascasian studies

A combination of plenary webinars and thematic breakouts will allow participants to engage and debate a diversity of themes raised by Las Casas’s life and legacy, from philosophy and theology, politics and colonization, anthropology and ethics.
